I remember visiting the ocean and standing barefoot at the edge of the water, jeans rolled to my knees. As my feet sank into the wet sand, I remained transfixed and gazed at the white peaks in the distance. When the waves came crashing in, I saw that the white was foam and it reminded me of freshly whipped egg whites, a salty sabayon.

It seems that most things in life remind me of food. Like an artist, I find inspiration in the world around me, but my craft takes place in the kitchen. I often find myself daydreaming about dishes I want to create. This fixation led to my enrollment at The Culinary Institute of America where I specialized in baking and pastries. Upon graduation I worked as a baker and pastry chef. All the hours spent in the kitchen gave me even more time to be innovative and create new dishes, desserts and techniques; that is when Synonym Cookies was born.
